Opened in 2015, Embellish Asheville features handmade jewelry, beautiful bags, a thoughtful apothecary section as well as other accessories and gifts. You won’t find brand names here, we’ll leave that to the big boxes. Our makers and designers are small and independent, like us. We know them, we have relationships with them and we wouldn’t do it any other way.

Madam Clutterbuckets Neurodiverse Universe is a quirky retail store that is staffed by adults with developmental disabilities. We are a family-owned business that believes that neurodiversity makes our communities stronger and abilities always outweigh disabilities.

We are driven by personal experience to spread awareness of the abilities of disabled adults and help decrease the workplace limitation stigma by creating employment opportunities that are built for success. We provide on site work support including job coaching and community building so our employees abilities, rather than disabilities, are recognized.

We have created employment opportunities for neurodiverse adults and we are working to demonstrate that businesses can accommodate all types of workers. Diverse workplaces are not only possible, but easy to create when workplaces are made accessible!

16. Fairy Hair Magic

Fairy Hair Magic was created by Fairy Iris (Dr. Iris), so she could spread joy, happiness, & sparkles everywhere she goes!

It all started when Dr. Iris attended a Breastfeeding Medicine Conference in the Enchanted Forest. She was graced by a fairy who taught her the secret to tying sparkly hair silks to human hair with a magic wand. That's where Dr. Iris became Dr. Fairy Iris. She loved how magical the sparkles made her feeling and wanted to spread the joy in Asheville!

In 2021, the closest place to get these mystical sparkles was in a faraway place called Black Mountain. Fairy Iris decided Asheville needed its own fairy shop, so all her fairy friends could get sparkled locally without having to travel far and wide. And the rest is history ;)

Since then Fairy Iris has taught the art of fairy hair sparkling to other fairies, so they can all share in the magic and continue to spread joy, happiness, & sparkles to even more people!

We also offer party trays, celebration cookies, love doing custom orders and don’t forget our cookie truck that can bring the fun to you! Mary’s Mountain Cookies is locally owned by me, Meghan. Running a business and being a mom has not been an easy juggle, but it sure has been a rewarding one. We have a great cookie crew who enjoys bringing our cookies to our community and beyond! We make all of our dough in house, bake everything fresh daily, and enjoy decorating cookies in our open kitchen where our customers can see all the action. Nest Organics is an environmentally-driven boutique in downtown Asheville, North Carolina dedicated to offering organic and non-toxic goods for kids and the home with an emphasis on local makers.

This iteration of the shop was born from a long-held dream between two friends: Lyndsey Marlar and Katie Spears. After years of planning and chatting, the pair bought the shop in early 2020 and set about transforming the space into what it is now: a bright and welcoming one-stop-shop for organic home-goods, gifts, bedding, and mattresses.
