From historic buildings to must-do hikes we’ve got you covered so that you don’t miss out on any of the Asheville essential experiences.

1. Check out the Grove Arcade
This is one of North Carolina’s most historic buildings! The Grove Arcade was built in 1929, and now features various boutique shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The many restaurants that line Page Avenue make up what is known as “Restaurant Row at Grove Arcade.”
2. Hike through Chimney Rock Park
Located 25 miles outside of Asheville, the Exclamation Point Trail leads you to the top of Chimney Rock. This 20 minute hike is mostly uphill. Don’t miss the views from “Opera Box” and “Devil’s Head”, two popular stopping points along the hike. We suggest adding on the hike to Hickory Nut Falls while you’re there too!
3. Horseback Ride through the mountains
Looking for a fun, unique, and relaxing way to take in the mountain views? Book a horseback riding trail ride in Asheville! The Biltmore Estate is one of our favorite options for trial riding; they also offer carriage rides.
4. Book a mineral spa at Hot Springs Resort & Spa
Did you know that these mineral baths have been famous since 1778 for their health-giving properties? The hot Springs Resort & Spa pumps these natural hot mineral waters into their outdoor jetted hot tubs. You can rent these mineral bath hot tubs by the hour!
5. Hike the Craggy Gardens Trail
Located 20 miles outside of Asheville, this 1.9 mile out & back trail is a local favorite! We recommend checking out the Craggy Pinnacle Trail while you’re here too, it’s a 1.0 mile out & back trail with 360 views.
6. Walk the Mile High Swinging Bridge
Located 72 miles outside of Asheville, this bridge was built in 1952 and offers panoramic views of Grandfather Mountain. The Mile High Swinging Bridge is known as America’s highest suspension footbridge!
7. Walk Asheville’s Urban Trail
What is it? Asheville’s Urban Trail is a 1.7 mile walking tour that highlights Asheville’s history. There are 30 stops along the way, and a printable map is available at the link below!
8. Visit the Asheville Art Museum
The Asheville Art Museum was established in 1942 and features American art from the 20th and 21st centuries. The rooftop cafe, Perspective Cafe, is the perfect place to stop, grab a drink, and enjoy the view of Downtown Asheville!
